Our Conservation Vision

At Tasmania Untouched, our vision extends beyond simple tourism. We are deeply committed to the preservation of this unique island ecosystem for future generations. Our core mission is to foster a profound connection between people and nature, believing that true appreciation leads to a desire for conservation. We actively participate in and fund local conservation projects, focusing on habitat restoration for endangered species like the Tasmanian Devil and the Swift Parrot. We strive to operate with a minimal ecological footprint, ensuring that our presence helps protect, rather than harm, the delicate balance of these pristine environments. Our goal is to create a sustainable model where tourism directly contributes to the thriving biodiversity of Tasmania.

Our Eco-Tour Principles

We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel. Our methodology is built on a foundation of respect for the environment, local communities, and the wildlife that calls this island home. Below are the core principles that guide every expedition we lead.

We strictly adhere to the 'Leave No Trace' principles. This means everything we bring into a natural area, we bring out. We minimize campfire impacts, respect wildlife by observing from a distance, and travel on durable surfaces to avoid disturbing fragile flora. Our guides are trained to educate all participants on these crucial practices to ensure our collective footprint is virtually invisible.

We believe sustainable tourism must benefit local communities. We partner with local businesses, employ local guides, and source supplies from Tasmanian producers whenever possible. A portion of our profits is reinvested into community-led conservation initiatives, ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism are shared and contribute to the well-being of the island's inhabitants.

An essential part of our mission is to educate. Our guides provide deep insights into Tasmania's unique geology, ecology, and history. We aim to transform a simple tour into an immersive learning experience, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the complexities of this ecosystem. We believe that an informed visitor becomes a powerful advocate for conservation long after they've returned home.

Conservation Technology

We leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance our conservation efforts and provide unique experiences. Explore how innovation is helping us protect Tasmania's future.

AI Wildlife Tracking

We utilize a network of solar-powered, motion-activated cameras combined with an advanced AI image recognition system. This technology allows us to monitor elusive species like the Eastern Quoll and Tasmanian Devil non-invasively. The AI analyzes thousands of images to identify individuals, track population densities, and monitor health, providing invaluable data for conservation strategies without disturbing the animals.

Our conservation team uses specialized drones equipped with LiDAR and thermal imaging cameras. These drones help us conduct large-scale habitat mapping, monitor forest health, and detect early signs of environmental stress. Thermal imaging is particularly effective for conducting nocturnal wildlife surveys, giving us an accurate count of species that are active after dark, which is crucial for understanding the complete ecosystem.
